Consulting

Corinna Moebius's work is centered on the mindful economic development, preservation and revitalization of neighborhoods, business districts and commercial corridors.

Her practice areas, listed below, reflect the diverse skills and experience she has garnered in her 20-year career helping places become vibrant, inclusive and sustainable:

  • business district development/revitalization;
  • placemaking and urban design;
  • asset-based community development;
  • civic engagement and public participation/outreach/education;
  • arts and cultural development;
  • cultural/community tourism and destination development;
  • hyperlocal media and location-based marketing;
  • local food system development;
  • transportation planning;
  • small business development and support.

An on-the-ground urban and Internet strategist, Corinna is particularly skilled at reaching and engaging diverse stakeholders, working with them to:

  • preserve, share and cultivate a district's or corridor's special spirit of place;
  • identify and enhance drivers of social and creative capital;
  • facilitate local economic development, sustainability and resilience.

Corinna's consulting clients include planning agencies and firms, developers, small businesses, community development corporations, civic and neighborhood groups, and foundations. She also leads unique workshops, facilitates activities at events and has presented at conferences nationwide. In 2010, her profile was included in Becoming an Urban Planner: A Guide to Careers in Urban Planning (Wiley & Sons).

Her current consulting work is in the role of outreach consultant for Earth Learning's new Food Hub for South Florida, as a part of its Greater Everglades Foodshed Project. This exciting work entails her reaching out to market owners in South Florida's low-income neighborhoods, and building their interest in selling fresh, locally grown produce.

"Awesome conference! Thank you, and everyone else who worked so hard to arrange it, and pull it together the day of the event. The speakers were great, and the attendance was strong. All came together to make this a very insightful day. I went through life in Miami for years looking for something like this, without knowing who, how, where, or what. Such a cool idea. I look forward to the next conference, and any formal or informal conversations, or workshops that may come up between here and there."

"Our participation in Adams Morgan Day was extremely successful on many levels. It was our best single financial day on all the events we've ever been at. As a 10-year resident of Adams Morgan, I was STILL impressed with the diversity of people that the festival attracted. I was also impressed with the local representation of vendors and the participation of true neighborhood businesses."
-- Colin Diemer, President, Peanut Envy (vendor)

"This was THE BEST 1-day show we have ever done! It was extremely well organized, everyone was courteous and helpful and the sun was shining! I think the layout and mix of vendors was really good. I have only been exhibiting for the past few years, but it seemed that this year's drew even more people."
-- Pat McCarty, Kashmir Imports (vendor)
