Corinna will be offering a series of place-related workshops beginning in September or October 2011 (final dates/location TBD).

Our Places of Meaning: A 6-Week Creativity & Healing Workshop Series

Throughout the ages, writers, poets, musicians, artists and other creative people have found inspiration in the memories of specific places: hometowns, a favorite bar, a street corner, the front steps. This series of hands-on workshops delves into our deep feelings and attachments to places of meaning in our own lives, and helps us tap the potential of these places as touchstones for our own creative expression.

We’ll see how various types of places are represented in film, music, art, photography and stories, and then examine the role of these places in our own lives. Each workshop focuses on different types of places and incorporates readings/stories (copies of which will be distributed before/during the workshop) and multimedia (photos, music, videos, online exhibits).

Before each workshop, you’ll be invited to bring particular items to share, such as photos, drawings, objects and personal stories/journal entries. Through sharing, storytelling, drawing, mapping, writing exercises, open discussion and other activities, we’ll create a healing, transformative space for honoring the places that are part of who we are.

This workshop is led by Corinna Moebius, M.A. who for more than 20 years has been studying particular types of places, the relationship between place and identity, and the role of places in artistic and creative expression. A consultant, teacher, writer, tour guide and placemaking advocate, Corinna has been developing this workshop series over a period of many years.
